Upper Wood

The Open Mind Place Upper Wood is located 20 meters above the neighboring Lower Wood installation, at the heart of the village of Referinghausen in the Sauerland region of Germany. Oak sleepers are stacked upon a substructure of six pillars, creating a space designed for gathering and connection. Accessible via a small bridge, the interior offers room for up to ten people.

Its elevated position provides a sweeping view of the village below and the hills to the south, including the historic Heidenstrasse. For many, Upper Wood has become a favorite meeting place, offering a tranquil environment for reflection and a space to exchange ideas. Above all, it serves as a perspective changer, encouraging new ways of thinking and connecting with the surrounding landscape and community.
