The Lower Wood installation is located in the multigenerational square of Referinghausen and is part of the Open Mind Places initiative. In the lower section, seating for both the young and elderly has been carved out from two recycled concrete cubes. During its construction, the villagers affixed old windows, doors, and memorabilia to the concrete formwork, leaving a lasting imprint of the past for future generations.
The upper section is crafted from wood, the same material once used to build the traditional half-timbered houses of the Sauerland. It serves not only as a roof but also as a central luminous element, lighting the area during the evening hours.
