Fichtenwald House

The Fichtenwald House is situated in the forest settlement of Beelitz – Fichtenwalde near Potsdam. Designed in close relation with its surroundings, the longhouse consists of three distinct volumes and two open courtyards.

The site’s unique character was main source of the concept. Out of respect for the natural environment, the atmospheric tree population was carefully preserved. The design aligns with the linear form of a former logging path, a space naturally free of trees.

The ground floor hosts living and studio spaces that extend into terraces, creating a seamless connection with the outdoor environment. The upper floor is reserved for retreat and sleeping areas, offering a private sanctuary.

With its prefabricated timber-frame construction, natural materials, and energy-efficient technology, the Fichtenwald House stands as a model of sustainable and ecological architecture. Its dark-toned wood facade enables the structure to blend effortlessly with the surrounding forest.
