The pavilion is located at Domshof, in the heart of Bremen. It is integrated into the overall new landscape design concept for the square, providing an open space for democracy, cultural exchange, and inclusive participation for all residents and visitors. Open on all four sides, the pavilion connects to both the square and the surrounding buildings, offering shelter on hot or rainy days while fostering a sense of community. The use of natural materials and the open design enhance the ecological and social atmosphere of Domshof.
At its core, the pavilion is a roofed structure that does not exceed the height of the existing tree canopies. The versatile space accommodates a range of activities, including dining, public events, city tours, exhibitions, social and ecological projects, small concerts, cultural events, and university-related functions. It also integrates seamlessly with the weekly market, further enriching the space.
Built from locally sourced and natural materials, the pavilion strengthens the connection between Bremen and its surroundings. The wooden beams and roof, made from recycled materials, reflect a forward-thinking, regenerative approach. The pavilion encourages active participation in cultural, social, and ecological projects, serving as a catalyst for community engagement.
