Since 2013, the socially and functionally diverse Hanse Platz Quarter in Korbach has been under development through close collaboration between the citizens of Korbach, the city administration, and the mayor. Located near Korbach’s main train station, this new neighborhood stands as a testament to cooperative urban planning.
A key feature of the quarter is the building Between Tracks and Road, positioned on a narrow plot between the train tracks and Am Hauptbahnhof street. Originally planned to house just seven garages, the design was expanded after successfully convincing the client to add two additional floors, transforming the structure into an urban element.
The building’s upper part cantilevers outward on all sides, increasing the usable floor area. Therefore, it accommodates not only garages but also educational spaces, a psychiatric practice, and workspaces. Its distinctive shape and multifunctional design have made it a dynamic and integral part of the neighborhood, contributing to its evolving and vibrant character.
